Dj SashaActually Dj Sasha is Alexander Coe born in Wales in September 1969. Do not be mistaken, this kind of recognition does not happen overnight. Born and raised in a small town in Wales, Sasha was exposed to Motown records when he was just a baby and it was in the home that his talent for playing the piano was developed. His first exposure to house music was at Manchester’s Hacienda; just as dance music exploded into the summer of love. This impact encouraged his move from Wales to Manchester. Multi-talented North Wales native Sasha became one of the world’s most renowned and popular DJs. Starting out in the late ’80s as a club DJ, the former Alexander Coe got his first big break when he was hired by the dance club Shelly’s to spin and rework popular sounds of the day. From this Time SASHA began to gain popularity. It was while still at Renaissance that Sasha met another DJ John Degweed. The two became a remixing team. they still work together and make great music. Their First work was “Northern Exposure “, In late 1997, another Sasha +John Degweed compilation appeared, Northern Exposure, Vol. 2. Through their track selection and mixing techniques, Sasha and Digweed were instrumental in the evolution of progressive trance and house music.

He has been voted among the top ten DJs in the world by readers of DJMag every year since 1997, placing first in 2000. At the annual Winter Music Conference, Sasha has won the “Best Techno/Trance 12″ award (1999) for the Xpander EP, and “Best CD Compilation” awards for Global Underground: Ibiza (1999, 2000) and Involver (2004). He was also nominated in the categories “Best European DJ” (2004) and “Best Remixer”. At the 1999 Ericsson Muzik Awards, he received an award for “Outstanding Contributions to Dance Music”. Sasha has been nominated as the top DJ in his genre every year since 2000 in the DJ Awards, but has yet to win.

In 2005, the Grammy committee debated whether Involver was eligible for nomination as Best Electronic/Dance Album. The Recording Academy decided that the album was eligible, but Involver did not receive a nomination. Sasha did receive a Grammy nomination for his remix of Felix da Housecat’s “Watching Cars Go By”, which was featured on Involver.
